Albanian police have successfully completed another stage of the international operation codenamed “Fast,” arresting a 23-year-old man in Durrës who was wanted internationally by Italian authorities.

The operation was coordinated by the Search Sector (FAST Albania) of the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, in partnership with the Durrës Local Police Directorate.
This cooperation was made possible thanks to the rapid exchange of information between the Interpol National Central Bureau in Tirana and its counterpart in Rome.
The arrested man, Latif Biba, is suspected of being a member of a criminal organization based in Italy, engaged in the full cycle of narcotics, from cultivation and trade to trafficking of illegal substances.
Currently, Interpol Tirana is continuing consultations with Italian partners to finalize the necessary legal procedures for the extradition of the 23-year-old across the Adriatic.
Authorities informed that the young man was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Court of Brescia in March 2026. The charges against him include “Production and sale of narcotic substances” and “Participation in a criminal group for drug trafficking,” as provided for by Italian criminal law.
During the latest phase of the “Fast” operation, law enforcement forces managed to precisely locate Latif Biba’s whereabouts in Durrës, then carried out his capture and provisional arrest pending the finalization of extradition.
