The SDSM party has sharply attacked Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski over his statements on the country’s economic situation, accusing him of using “magic” to create a false reality.

According to the opposition, Mickoski is no longer satisfied with claiming that Macedonia ranks as the third-best economy in Europe, but has gone even further by asserting that our economic growth surpasses that of the entire European Union and that our country leads the continent in the growth rate of tourists.
“While our people calculate every day whether they will manage to survive until the end of the month, while the food basket breaks every negative record and fuel prices rise for the second consecutive week, we are first in the prime minister’s imagination,” the SDSM’s response says.
The opposition also stresses that this exaggerated optimism comes at a time when farmers are forced to sell their produce below cost, when young people are massively abandoning the country, and when Europe “can only envy us for this fabricated reality.”
“Nations like Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden look at us in amazement and ask how we manage. The answer is simple: with press conferences. This behavior knows no bounds anymore. Soon we’ll be declared first in space as well, and leaders in the number of empty refrigerators and the length of border queues,” SDSM mocks.
