The Labor Inspectorate announced that the crane fell during its assembly process at the site, while adding that the necessary expert investigation will be conducted to determine the cause.
“Regarding the cause of the accident, it is still too early at this stage to draw an inspector’s conclusion, as the nature and circumstances of the case require further investigations and expert analyses to determine the exact cause of the accident, as well as responsibility regarding the implementation of workplace safety and health measures,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Kosovo Police, in cooperation with the Pristina prosecutor’s office, have already launched an investigation into the case.
“Police units arrived at the scene and took the necessary actions. Currently, the relevant police units, in coordination with the state prosecutor, have begun investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the case,” the police stated.
The Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, expressed condolences to the family of the 26-year-old who died at his workplace, adding that workplace safety must be a non-negotiable condition.
The crane that collapsed at the site broke and fell onto the roof of a nearby house, causing considerable damage.
The homeowner stated that no one was inside the house at the time of the incident.
