The affected regions include Madrid, Toledo, and Avila, as authorities have taken the measure of temporarily suspending harvesting with agricultural machinery to prevent any risk of the flames spreading further.
The Minister for Ecological Transition, Sara Aagesen, stated that the fire that engulfed the province of Avila has scorched more than 50,000 hectares of land, ranking it as the largest in the country’s entire history.
In Avila alone, the evacuation order has affected over 25,000 residents, while at least 8,700 other people have been instructed to stay confined in their homes due to the direct threat from the fire.
