The State Police has appealed to citizens to be careful of attempts to gain access to WhatsApp accounts, warning of numerous cases of fraudulent messages and links circulating.

According to the official announcement, scammers send users links with various claims, such as voting in contests or confirming actions, and then ask them to enter the 6-digit WhatsApp verification code.
This code is used by the perpetrators to register the account on another device and gain control of it.
To avoid falling victim to these scams, the State Police advises citizens not to click on suspicious links, even when sent by known persons, and not to share the WhatsApp verification code under any circumstances.
Also, citizens are encouraged to activate the Two-Step Verification feature in the app and, if they suspect their account has been compromised, to act immediately to recover it and notify their contacts.
