Human remains suspected to belong to Halim Sopaj were discovered on July 23 in a mountainous area near the village of Shkozë in Malisheva. Sopaj had been missing since October 5 last year.

After he was reported missing, the Gjakova Regional Police Directorate, together with other relevant institutions, carried out several successive search-and-rescue operations but was unable to locate him.
According to a police statement, the victim’s remains were sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) for the relevant examinations. Today, the authorities were officially informed that the examination process had been completed, and after consultation with the state prosecutor, the remains were handed over to the family.
