Britain’s new prime minister, Andy Burnham, will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today, making him the first international visitor Burnham has hosted since taking office.

The two leaders will meet at a naval base in the United Kingdom. There, they will also meet around 200 Ukrainian soldiers and sailors who have completed the “Sea Breeze” training programme, focused on maritime security and mine-clearing operations in the Black Sea.
As part of the visit, Britain is also expected to announce the transfer of “Stone Cloak” electronic jamming technology, which is used to disrupt Russian air defence systems.
When installed on Ukrainian drones, the devices help them evade detection and strikes by Russian systems. The new agreement will allow Ukraine to manufacture the jammers itself on a larger scale.
“Britain stands with Ukraine, side by side. Our support remains unwavering,” Burnham said.
The support provided by the United Kingdom to Ukraine so far amounts to around £25 billion and includes both military and financial assistance.
Zelensky is making the visit as London seeks to reaffirm its commitment to Kyiv and confirm the long-term partnership between the two countries.
