Suspended sentence for Tatjana Dimitrovska, former Anti-Corruption chief

Former head of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, Tatjana Dimitrovska, was found guilty by the Skopje Criminal Court of two criminal offenses: disclosing official secrets and computer manipulation.

The court handed down a unified suspended sentence of one year in prison. This sentence will remain unenforced if she commits no new legal violation during a three-year monitoring period. In the same case, auditor Mile Stolevski also received a guilty verdict for digital forgery and was sentenced to a six-month suspended prison term.

Meanwhile, the third defendant in this trial, Biljana Petrovska-Manteva, was acquitted. The judicial panel ordered her release, reasoning that the prosecution failed to present convincing evidence of guilt.

According to the court’s assessment, Dimitrovska’s actions that led to the extraction of official data seriously damage the credibility and reputation of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption itself, while also constituting a breach of her institutional responsibilities. All involved parties have the right to challenge this verdict before the Court of Appeals, by filing an appeal within eight days.
