The Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague have responded regarding the request of Hashim Thaçi’s defense lawyers, who have sought his conditional release with a series of guarantees, including a sum of 50,000 euros as bail. According to the institution, the authority to make such a decision rests exclusively with the judge of the case.
In the official response to Rtv21, the Specialist Chambers emphasizes that it is the single judge who decides on the measure of detention, based on legal provisions and the rules in force. It is also announced that he will pronounce the decision at an appropriate time, accompanied by the relevant reasoning.

Among the other conditions proposed by the defense, it is emphasized that Thaçi will not be allowed to leave the borders of Kosovo and will be obliged to surrender his passport and any other travel document.
Furthermore, it is stipulated that he will not make any public comment, either directly or indirectly, in traditional media or social platforms. Also, he will not be allowed to discuss the content of his case file with persons outside a defined group of members of the legal defense team.
