44 days of uninterrupted protests: Citizens insist on Prime Minister Rama’s resignation

Today, the citizen protest enters its 44th day, becoming one of the longest-running civic movements Albania has seen in recent years.

For 44 consecutive evenings, in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, the crowds have relentlessly repeated the chants that began on the first day: “Rama in prison, Berisha in prison,” “Rama resign,” and “New Albania.”

Last evening as well, as on every evening of the previous 43 days, after gathering in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, the protesters marched through the streets of Tirana, stopped in front of Parliament, and then at the headquarters of the Democratic Party.

There they chanted “Sold-out opposition,” accusing the opposition of becoming part of the same system that the citizens aim to overthrow.
