A strong and anger-filled intervention was heard in the square in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, where an elderly woman, who came especially from Durrës, addressed the gathered crowd. She directly attacked former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and the Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, speaking about another scandal that, according to her, is linked to the alienation of old properties and houses in Durrës.
With harsh language and without any hesitation, she stressed that the citizens’ protest will not stop in the face of what she called the “concrete mafia.”

“43 days are for us 43 hours! We are such a loving, respected people, but this scoundrel doesn’t like it. He calls us crows and ravens! We want to stay in this country and he’s driving us out!” she said, referring, as she put it, to the insulting way in which the authorities speak.
Then the elderly woman paused on the decision that has sparked the revolt of Durrës residents, openly warning that if their homes are touched, their reaction will be harsh.
“What did Edi Rama do with Balluku in Durrës? We have been protesting there for 11 months, we have clashed with the police and we are not afraid! On August 24, Belinda Balluku, together with the mayor, signed a government decision to remove the old Durrës houses to make flower gardens. When Durrës had its gardens, they concreted them over with Vangjush Dako and the mafia! Let that mayor Emiriana Sako know: either she revokes the decision, or we will go to her house too! Their project is a thief’s project!” she said amid loud cheers and applause from the protesters.
She called Balluku an “extreme thief” and demanded she end up in prison, while we recall that the former number two of the government is also officially under indictment by SPAK for several serious charges.
