A prison police officer and an inmate were caught red-handed and arrested at Durrës Prison after a quantity of suspected narcotic substance was discovered inside the institution.
The Supervisory Agency in the System for the Execution of Criminal Decisions announced that those arrested are citizens A.P., a police officer at Durrës Prison, and A.M., a convicted inmate held at this institution.

They are suspected of the criminal offenses of “Introducing or possessing prohibited items in the Institution for the Execution of Imprisonment Decisions” and “Production and sale of narcotics.”
The case was uncovered following an inspection carried out by AMSEVP in cooperation with the General Directorate of Prisons.
Checks found that the prison police officer, while on duty inside the prison premises, had handed the inmate a quantity of suspected narcotic substance believed to be cocaine.
This substance was seized as material evidence, while the relevant procedural actions were carried out against the two detainees.
AMSEVP said the investigations are continuing under the direction of the Prosecution Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Durrës, in order to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and verify whether there have been other similar cases at Durrës Prison.
