On the anniversary of the death of “Bota Sot” journalist Bardhyl Ajeti, the publisher of this newspaper, Xhevdet Mazrekaj, has reacted.
In his commemorative message, Mazrekaj described Ajeti as a symbol of free speech and courageous journalism, while stressing that even 21 years after the attack and his death, justice in this case has still not been served, “Bota sot” reports.

Today, on June 25, he says that Bardhyl Ajeti is remembered with pain and pride as the “Bota Sot” journalist who died from the severe wounds he suffered in the June 3, 2005 attack, leaving behind an open wound for the family, journalism, and the truth.
According to him, with Bardhyl’s murder, it was not only one man who was struck, but also free speech, civic courage, and a kind of journalism that refused to remain silent in the face of threats and crime.
Mazrekaj stresses that 21 years have passed, but justice is still absent, and that this absence constitutes a second pain for his family, for “Bota Sot,” and for all those who believe that the truth should neither be killed nor forgotten.
He says that Bardhyl Ajeti remains in memory as a martyr of free speech and as one of the names that gave dignity to Albanian journalism in difficult times.
In the end, Mazrekaj honors the memory of Bardhyl Ajeti and adds that justice for him remains a debt owed to his family, to journalism, and to history.
