In the past 17 years, the Children’s Clinic in Skopje has recorded its lowest patient mortality rate this year. The director of the clinic, Rexhep Memedi, announced that in the first quarter a mortality rate of 0.27 percent was registered, or twice as low compared with last year.
Memedi explained that in the period from 2014 to 2026, the percentage of patients who died in relation to the number of those hospitalized was 1.51 percent, while in 2015 this rate had fallen to 0.51.

He stressed that in the period from 2009, when the Clinic’s information system was in operation, until 2013, mortality was also high, at more than one percent every year.
“The figures for the first quarter of this year are particularly encouraging. In the first quarter, the death rate is 0.27 percent, which is the lowest level in the past 17 years and almost twice as low as a year earlier. In the first quarter of this year, of 1,841 hospitalized patients, five died, which is 7.5 times fewer than five years ago,” Memedi said.
According to him, this indicator represents an essential parameter for the quality of healthcare services provided at the Children’s Clinic, thanks to the commitment of the best pediatricians and the entire medical staff./Telegrafi/
