Donald Trump said on Sunday that Keir Starmer “will resign” from his post as prime minister of the United Kingdom, as widespread media reports continue in Britain about the possibility of his departure.
In a message posted on Truth Social, the American president wrote: “Keir Starmer will resign as prime minister of the United Kingdom”, but did not provide any further details or sources to support the claim.

Trump also used the post to attack Starmer’s political approach, saying he had failed on two key issues: immigration and energy.
“He failed badly on two very important issues, immigration and energy,” Trump wrote, as he once again repeated his call for increased use of oil and gas reserves in the North Sea.
According to the British news agency PA, Trump has not had any conversation with Starmer since their meeting at the G7 summit held earlier in the week.
From Downing Street, a spokesperson referred to Starmer’s latest statement, in which he stressed on Friday that he remains committed to his responsibilities as prime minister.
“There is still a lot of work to do and that is where I am focused. That is what I was elected for, to serve my country,” Starmer said.
At the same time, British Business Secretary Peter Kyle told the BBC that Starmer is reflecting on the current “political realities” and will act according to what he sees as the country’s best interest.
In recent days, speculation has intensified about Starmer’s political future, while British media report that he could make his decision public on Monday.
