SDSM: “The Left” does not represent a genuine opposition, but serves as an anti-EU, anti-NATO instrument in Russia’s interests

SDSM said today that the “The Left” party and its leader, Dimitar Apasiev, are acting as satellites of Russia.

According to SDSM, Apasiev has met with Gennady Zyuganov, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, who is on the United States’ blacklist.

“The masks must come off. This is not an authentic left-wing party, since he met with the leader of a Russian party that supports the war, defends the Kremlin’s interests, and opposes NATO and the EU,” SDSM said.

The party stressed that this is happening in a NATO member state that has the United States as a strategic partner and where more than 80% of citizens support the Euro-Atlantic orientation.

“The Left is not an opposition party, but a satellite. It is Mickoski’s Sputnik: anti-EU, anti-NATO, and anti-American,” SDSM said in its response.

According to the party, this party did not vote to raise the minimum wage, while it sat at the table with the platform seeking the keys from SDSM. Now, they added, it has officially sat down with Zyuganov as well.

SDSM underscored that citizens are watching this position: a party that claims to defend workers’ rights, but leaves the parliamentary chamber when a higher wage is put to a vote.

“It is a party that talks about sovereignty, but meets with the Russian chief. The same remote control used by Mickoski,” SDSM added.

The party said it had not sat at that table, just as the people had not sat there either. According to SDSM, Russia does not represent Macedonia’s future, while the future lies with the EU and with laws that are applied equally to everyone.
