The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted after statements by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who attacked students and protesters. In a social media post, Bardhi called it shameful that the head of government comes out and smears citizens.
According to him, Rama is applying double standards, while for Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, indicted by SPAK for corruption and money laundering, he demands that the principle of presumption of innocence be respected.

Bardhi also mentioned a series of other names from the ranks of the majority who have been charged by the Special Prosecution, emphasizing that the real criminals are in the government and not in the streets among the young people protesting.
STATEMENT BY THE HEAD OF THE PD PARLIAMENTARY GROUP, GAZMENT BARDHI
When answers to the demands of the youth are lacking, the easiest path becomes slander and smearing. Nevertheless, the facts speak for themselves.
Had Edi Rama shown care in verifying the past and integrity of his deputy prime ministers, ministers, MPs, mayors, and directors, Albania would not have reached this point.
Meanwhile, to hold on to power, he has proven willing to place individuals with ties to organized crime in leadership positions. On the other hand, to strike anyone he sees as a threat to his power, he does not hesitate to use every means, including attempts to criminalize opponents and Albanian citizens.
For Belinda Balluku, Erion Veliaj, Mirlinda Kaçanaj, Vlora Hyseni, or Ergys Agasi, we are asked to remain silent and consider them innocent, while citizens who protest must be declared guilty without any evidence and without a court ruling.
For Edi Rama, power seems to have always weighed more than integrity, responsibility, and civic interest. This very stance is one of the reasons Albania finds itself in this situation today.
