Health Minister Sasho Klekovski announced that 15 kidney transplants have been performed at the University Clinic of Urology this year, compared with 11 throughout 2025. According to him, three more transplants are expected to be carried out by the end of the year, all from living donors. He made the statement today during a visit to the clinic, where he met patients who had recently undergone transplants: two of them received organs from deceased donors, while one received an organ from a living donor.
Klekovski expressed particular gratitude to the family of the deceased donor, which, at a painful moment, decided to help two fellow citizens by giving them the opportunity to live without dialysis. He described this as an extraordinary act of humanity, while also thanking the living donor who decided to donate a part of themselves to their loved ones.

During the visit, the minister also praised the work of the teams at the Clinics of Urology and Nephrology, as well as the contribution of everyone involved in coordinating the donation process.
“Every transplant is based on trust, cooperation and shared commitment,” Klekovski said, adding that the authorities will continue strengthening the transplant network and awareness campaigns on organ donation, as many patients continue to wait for the opportunity to receive the treatment they need./Telegrafi/
