At a meeting with representatives of the banking sector, Prime Minister Edi Rama described the violent protests as an operation orchestrated by domestic and foreign elements, mentioning the ANTIFA movement, radicalized youth groups and criminal elements.
The prime minister described the protesting students as anarchists and neo-communists who scream as in the Middle Ages.

“This is orchestrated violence, linked to domestic and foreign elements through an anarchist neo-communist movement called ANTIFA, as well as other radicalized sections of the youth. Girls and boys who are extremists, who scream and make calls as in the Middle Ages or after the war to imprison anyone who, in their view, represents evil. The other side is the criminal component. Petty criminals from neighborhoods and the outskirts who are gathered with the sponsorship of organized crime, as well as other political entities,” Rama said.
According to the prime minister, these groups are supported by foreign forces seeking to destabilize Albania and Europe.
“All of these together have proven support, demonstrated day after day by foreign forces interested in destabilizing Albania and Europe as a whole. These elements, united on a single front, are not the students and members of society who have the right to protest in order to demand change and everything else. Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer people, but there are still people, as in the case of university professors— a very small minority overall, together with others there—who echo this and do nothing to distance themselves from the violence, which receives full coverage on television screens,” Rama said at the meeting with the leaders of the banking system.
