SDSM: Under Mickoski’s government, the minimum wage is not enough to buy food and 33% of workers live in poverty

SDSM claims that, under Hristijan Mickoski, the minimum wage does not cover even the basic food and drink needs of a family of four. According to the party, 33% of workers live in poverty.

“In October, citizens needed 26,170 denars just for food and drinks. Compared with January, spending on these products has risen by nearly 2,000 denars.

The consumer basket exceeds 70,000 denars, while the total rises to more than 90,000 denars when housing is included.

Basic living costs cannot be covered even by three salaries.

Workers in Macedonia are struggling, while their wages are among the lowest in Europe.

Of a total of 540,000 employed people, approximately 180,000 earn less than 31,200 denars a month. This means that 33% of workers in Macedonia are paid below the poverty line.

These are people who go to work and do their best, but do not earn enough to live with dignity; in reality, they live in poverty.

Instead of raising wages, the swindler is considering bringing in economic workers as a low-cost workforce. Nikollovski speaks of 50,000 economic workers, while Mickoski speaks of more than 100,000,” SDSM said in its response./Telegrafi/
