Konjufca, who is representing Kosovo at the Security Council meeting, referred to a statement by Third Vice President Snezhana Paunović. According to him, during a live broadcast, she said that if she had been in Slobodan Milošević’s place, she would have ethnically cleansed Kosovo in 1998.

He welcomed the European Union’s response to rhetoric that incites or glorifies ethnic cleansing, while calling on the Security Council to take the same position.

“We call on this Council to act in the same way and unequivocally condemn the glorification of Ratko Mladić, as well as the ongoing statements by the current government related to ethnic cleansing,” Konjufca said.

During his speech, he also mentioned a statement by Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dačić, who, according to Konjufca, said at a political rally held this month that the Serbian flag would sooner or later fly over Prizren.

According to him, these statements show that Belgrade’s territorial ambitions toward the Republic of Kosovo remain present.
