Peter N. Due, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative and head of UNMIK, has called for full cooperation between the institutions of Kosovo and Serbia to ensure that those responsible for the attack in Banjska and the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal are held accountable.

The call was made during a session of the UN Security Council, where the situation in Kosovo was discussed. Due stressed that institutional coordination is essential to ensure that the perpetrators of these attacks face justice.
On September 24, 2023, an armed group attacked the Kosovo Police in Banjska, killing Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku.
Kosovo’s authorities have repeatedly called on Serbia to take responsibility for the attack and for those involved to be brought to justice.
