The Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Austria have concluded negotiations and initialed an agreement regulating judicial cooperation in criminal matters.

The Ministry of Justice said the document aims to establish a clear legal basis for developing and facilitating international judicial cooperation between the two states.
The agreement covers extradition procedures, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, the transfer of sentenced persons and other forms of cooperation in the field of justice.
According to the ministry, its implementation is expected to improve the efficiency of handling relevant requests and procedures, while also strengthening joint mechanisms to combat cross-border crime.
Kosovo’s institution considers the completion of this process an important development in deepening cooperative relations between Kosovo and Austria.
“Finalizing this agreement is an important step in deepening cooperation between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Austria, as well as in strengthening joint efforts to prevent and combat cross-border and transnational crime,” the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.
