VIDEO/ Tensions from the protest in Elbasan, road sign posts are ripped out and trash bins set on fire

This Saturday, the youth protest in Elbasan, which started peacefully, has not continued that way. During the march through the city streets, the situation has become tense, as protesters ripped out road sign posts and set trash bins on fire.

The gathering started from the main city square, where a small group of young people set off along the boulevard, chanting in unison slogans against the government, including “Rama ik”.

During the march, protesters also approached citizens who were in cafes along the boulevard, inviting them to join the protests.

“Get up from the cafes, join us!”, was the repeated call from the young people as they moved through the city streets.

However, participation in the protest remains low, while the escalation of the situation has marked a shift from the peaceful start of the gathering.

The protest in Elbasan is taking place for the third consecutive day, amid a climate of mobilization and gatherings that have also spread to other cities across the country.
