Meanwhile, Russian attacks on Ukraine continued, with hundreds of drones and missiles deployed, causing deaths and injuries.

According to Italian media, Trump signed an executive order suspending major sanctions and tariffs on Russian exports provided for under the so-called Lindsey Graham Act.

The measure was taken just days before the restrictions were due to take effect. It is intended to avoid hindering the US administration’s efforts to lower oil prices ahead of the midterm elections, which will be held on November 3.

Trump signed the legislation last month. It was intended to increase economic pressure on Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine, while the suspension was made possible by an exemption clause included in the law.

The Kremlin welcomed the US decision, presenting it as a significant step for economic relations between the two countries.

Kirill Dmitriev, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s adviser on international economic cooperation and Moscow’s chief economic negotiator, described the suspension as a landmark event.

“The Trump administration’s suspension of the Graham Act is a significant and truly historic moment,” Dmitriev wrote on social media.

The development comes amid international tensions, as fighting in Ukraine continues and diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain complicated.

Overnight, as Moscow welcomed Washington’s decision, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, firing a total of 332 drones and ballistic and cruise missiles.

Ukraine’s Air Force said, according to information cited by RBC-Ukraine, that air defenses intercepted or neutralized 293 weapons, including 289 drones and four Kalibr cruise missiles.

Attacks were reported in 22 areas, while debris from downed aerial weapons fell in three others. Damage to buildings and industrial infrastructure was reported.

Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih were also struck in the early hours of Saturday, damaging buildings and an industrial facility.

The most severe consequences were reported in Kherson, where one person was killed and several others were injured.

The Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, citing local authorities, reported that an attack in Kherson injured a family, including a one-month-old baby.

The injured were taken to hospital. Reports said their lives were not in danger.

In another attack, in Kherson’s Korabelny district, a 64-year-old man who worked as an ambulance driver was killed.
