He said the government respects their right to protest, but will not allow violence and destruction to endanger the country’s future.
In his message, Rama stressed that the students’ voice must be heard and that their right to protest will be protected, but he again accused the opposition and “foreign hands” that, according to him, want Albania not to move forward.
“We respect the students, I value the strength of their dreams as the engine of the future, as the impetus to move faster forward. Their voice must and will be heard with respect. Their right to protest must and will be protected as a right for which we have fought at different times. But precisely because young people are our future, I will not allow anyone or anything to endanger the future of this country, neither for political gain by those lawless hands that have returned with the fury of burning and destruction, nor for the sinister aims of foreign hands that have entered to stop us. My responsibility is clearer in these difficult hours than in any good hours. To protect our citizens, to guarantee justice and to move Albania forward together with this governing majority that has a clear mandate, Albania 2030 in the EU,” Rama said.
The head of government also announced that groups will be set up to verify damage to small businesses in Tirana, while through the e-Albania platform a “My Damage” window will be created where entities can register damages and submit the relevant documentation to be compensated.
