In a post on Facebook, Pacolli said the inspection found a serious environmental situation that, she said, poses a direct risk to the health of citizens.

She called for accountability throughout the chain of command, also referring to Pristina Mayor Përparim Rama in connection with the situation.

Pacolli criticized the institutions tasked with waste management, reminding them that this is a basic function of local government.

The minister called it unacceptable for the Municipality of Pristina and the public enterprise to shift responsibility, saying that doing so was an attempt to cover up their failure to address the situation.

“Negligence cannot be normalized. Anyone who fails to perform their duties and leaves citizens exposed to this risk must take full responsibility, with no chance to evade it by passing the blame to someone else,” she wrote.

At the end of her statement, Pacolli warned that the law would be enforced and that everyone, without exception, who is putting citizens’ health at risk would face the consequences of the failure.
