She said that the Assembly of Kosovo should not continue with routine business at a time when citizens are demanding that the issue of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers be placed at the center of attention.

Musliu called for the Draft Law on Amending and Supplementing the Law on the Kosovo Specialist Chambers to be treated as a priority by the Assembly, KosovaPress reports.

“I object to holding a routine meeting because the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo are asking for something else, and we are here to represent the interests of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,” she said.

According to Musliu, MPs should address this issue without political divisions.

“I know that we may have political differences on many issues, but here we must not have differences; here we must stand together. It does not matter whether we belong to different political parties, and it does not matter whether we are of different nationalities. I believe that for the Republic of Kosovo there is no issue more important than the issue of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague,” Musliu declared.

The PDK MP said that she would not vote for the agenda and that she would leave the committee meeting.

The chair of this committee, Albert Kinolli, said he expected the amendments to the Draft Law on the Kosovo Specialist Chambers to be sent to the Assembly soon.

Kinolli explained that he based this expectation on information received from the prime minister.

“According to the information we have from the prime minister, we hope and expect that very soon the amendments to the law, the draft law on the Special Court, will come before the Assembly. We wish the best for the KLA fighters who are unjustly being tried in The Hague. I hope that those liberators will return as soon as possible to our state, to their land, where they contributed to this freedom and independence, and that they will also reunite with their families as soon as possible,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vetëvendosje MP Arbëreshë Kryeziu-Hyseni said that the work of this committee should not be halted because of the issue of the Specialist Chambers.

She stressed that the review of this law falls under the Committee on Legislation and not the Committee on Public Administration, Digitalization, Local Government, Media and Regional Development.

“I think this is not an issue that should hinder the functioning of the committees, let alone the functioning of this parliamentary committee, which has nothing to do with handling this law, because it is the Committee on Legislation that will deal exclusively with the relevant law. Therefore, I do not think we should be obstructed by protests or such requests from MPs of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, because it is clear to us what the scope of this committee is. We must therefore move forward, and I very much hope that we will continue moving forward, because its scope is broad and a considerable number of institutions are overseen precisely by this committee. Therefore, we should never allow the committee’s work to be obstructed by such requests, which are handled by an entirely different committee from ours,” Hyseni declared.
