He said the time available is limited and that the coming weekend will be decisive, with the aim of having Parliament vote for the new president next week.

“We have begun communicating and, naturally, this weekend is crucial for reaching an agreement so that we have a president next week,” Kurti said on Friday, Bota sot reports.

Kurti made the comments during the International Conference on Women’s Empowerment, while the procedure for electing the head of state is nearing the deadline set by the Constitution.

The deadline for electing Kosovo’s president expires on October 6. If Parliament does not complete the process by that date, the country could head toward new parliamentary elections.

If Parliament is dissolved, early elections must be held no later than November 15.

Therefore, the dialogue between political entities in the coming days is expected to determine whether consensus on the president will be secured or whether Kosovo will face another electoral process.

The prime minister did not disclose details about the talks or the name of any potential candidate. He reiterated that the aim is to reach an agreement by the end of this weekend and elect the president next week.
