According to Kurti, meetings with opposition representatives will begin immediately after the conclusion of the scheduled conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

He made these remarks to KP after paying tribute to Ejup Statovci, the former rector of the University of Pristina “Hasan Prishtina.”

“After we conclude today’s meeting with the president of the European Commission, Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, we will immediately begin communicating to arrange meetings with the opposition leaders, so that we are not without an Assembly on October 7, but have the new president in place by October 6 at the latest,” Kurti declared.

The prime minister underscored the importance of reaching a political agreement before the deadline set by the Constitution expires.

October 6 marks the end of the deadline for electing the new president. If the Assembly fails to elect the head of state by that date, the country will hold new elections.

As the deadline approaches, dialogue and meetings between the parliamentary parties are expected to play a key role in resolving the deadlock surrounding the presidential process.
