The Ukrainian president issued the warning as explosions were reported in the Ukrainian capital by journalists during an air-raid alert.
According to Zelensky, Russian drone attacks carried out in various parts of Ukraine on Monday killed at least nine people and wounded more than 80 others.
In a message posted on social media, he said that North Korean soldiers, who reportedly suffered significant losses during their previous deployment, “are being selected for training and subsequent deployment in Russia.”
Vladimir Putin has denied reports of a new wave of mobilization, calling them “nonsense.” However, on September 28, the Russian president signed a decree increasing the number of troops by 15,500 soldiers. It was the fourth such order this year.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russia has suffered significant losses in troops, weapons and military equipment. According to reports, the Kremlin had expected the war to end in victory within just a few weeks.
Putin’s last mobilization of reservists took place in 2022, while a new initiative of this kind is expected to be highly unpopular among Russian citizens.
