The chairman of SDSM, Venko Filipçe, said after meeting with pensioners in the municipality of Karposh that the increase in pensions of around 3% does not guarantee a monthly living or a dignified life for this group.

According to him, rising prices and living costs have significantly damaged pensioners’ standard of living, while the government, as Filipçe put it, has not taken measures to support them.
“Given the overall rise in prices and the sharp increase in fuel prices, pensioners cannot really feel this increase. An increase of less than 3% is not enough to make it through the month in the face of the substantial rise in prices. After the severe blow their standard of living has suffered in recent months, they truly need more support,” Filipçe said.
He stressed that pensioners’ problems go beyond the size of their pensions, as they are also linked to the country’s overall situation and government policies that directly affect their well-being.
“As the oldest category of citizens, they are also concerned about other developments in the country. They are worried about the jeopardizing of the European path, the country’s large debts, as well as poor policies that affect living standards, the economy and finances. They know that their children are facing difficulties and living poorly, while they are also concerned because many of them are being forced to seek a way out and salvation abroad,” Filipçe said.
