The court is expected to determine his security measure today, with the judicial panel consisting of prosecutor Oljana Gjergjefi and judge Bora Shaholli.
The incident is suspected to have occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. According to preliminary information, Bakaj, who is the uncle of Socialist Party MP Zegjine Çaushi, went to the 67-year-old’s home in Suk and allegedly struck him in the leg with a sickle.
The conflict is suspected to have begun after the 52-year-old went to his former partner’s home, even though the court had issued a protection order against him.
He is charged with the criminal offenses of “Intentional serious injury” and “Actions contrary to a court decision.”
While being held at the Fier Police Station, Bakaj denied the allegations. He stated that he had not abused the 34-year-old woman and that he would present his explanations before the court, which will decide today on the security measure.
