The ceremony marking the transfer of duties was held in the presence of Minister of Defense Ermal Nufi, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, Air Force Commander Brigadier General Edmond Voci, as well as the personnel and staff of the Air Base.
In his speech, Minister Ermal Nufi praised the Air Force’s contribution to firefighting operations and the response to civil emergencies.
“Behind them are people who serve the homeland, the community and Albanians, protecting them from natural disasters. This is the fulfillment of the mission!” the minister said.
The minister also thanked the personnel for their commitment in the early hours of the morning in Krujë, Himarë and Levan, when residents were awaiting the arrival of the helicopter. “These are the people who were desperately sought at four and five in the morning in Krujë; at four and five in the morning in Himarë; at four and five in the morning in Levan. People were saying: ‘Oh God, when will morning come, so that the helicopter can arrive?’ An extraordinary thank-you to all of you, to the entire Air Force, to every member of the personnel!” Nufi said.
Ermal Nufi expressed his gratitude to Lieutenant Colonel Ervin Buzi, who has served for 20 years, particularly commending his leadership of Farkë Air Base. Meanwhile, he wished the new commander, Lieutenant Colonel Bedri Kaloshi, success and asked him to continue the good work carried out so far by the base’s personnel.
