The Left has accused the government of a lack of transparency and inconsistencies in the way the independence anniversary celebrations were organized, saying that new explanations about the event have raised even more questions.

According to the party, the deadline for submitting bids ended on May 8 at 12:00, and only one bid was submitted, consisting of around one hundred pages. Four days later, on May 12, the government and “Avalon” announced the program, including a performance by David Guetta.
The Left wants to know how, within such a limited period, the opening and review of the documentation, the evaluation of the bid, the analysis of its financial and production justifications, and the decision to select the producer could all have been completed.
The party also points to a discrepancy between the requirements set out in the public call and the statements made by Nikollçe Micevski, the chairman of the Commission. The call stated that the Commission was required to lead the procedure, review the bid, and prepare a report with a proposal for the selection. However, according to The Left, Micevski later defined his role only as verifying the completeness of the documents and compliance with the deadlines.
Another issue raised by The Left concerns Micevski’s role: he chaired the Commission that analyzed the bid and was later engaged as the arranger for José Carreras’s concert.
The Left is calling for the publication of the Commission’s full report, the minutes of its meetings, individual assessments, if any were prepared, the reasoning behind the criteria used, the selection decision, the date on which the selected implementer was notified, and the entire timeline from the submission of the bid to the official announcement of the program.
“If the entire procedure was regular and without shortcomings, then there is no reason for the documents to be kept closed,” The Left said. The party added that the public should be informed about the procedure so it can assess whether a substantive review was actually carried out.
