During closing arguments in the “Thaçi 2” case, Isni Kilaj’s lawyer rejected the arguments of the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office, stressing that the materials submitted by the Prosecution do not prove the existence of her client’s criminal intent.

According to the defense, the SPO’s position regarding Kilaj is based on information that does not go beyond speculation.
“The SPO claims that this evidence supports the inference of Mr. Kilaj’s criminal intent under count 14. The substance of my submissions consists of three points. First, the evidence on which the SPO relies is nothing more than speculation.
Second, even if the February material is used to draw inferences about Mr. Kilaj’s intent in February 2023, that inference cannot also be applied to his intent during the October 2023 visit, that is, eight months later; and third, in any event, the material from the February visit cannot be considered an indication of Mr. Kilaj’s intent to participate in the Kilaj group, the only group that matters in relation to count 14 of the indictment,” the lawyer stated.
