On the ground, firefighting teams from Puka and Vau i Dejës are battling the flames, focusing on isolating the hotspots and preventing further spread of the fire.

The local community has been raising its voice since September 6 for air support with helicopters, which would help in curbing and extinguishing the fire. Calls for aerial intervention come as the situation remains out of control in several spots.

Another concerning consequence is the severe air pollution. Dense clouds of smoke have covered the city of Puka and surrounding villages, creating major difficulties for residents.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire on Tërbun mountain may have been set intentionally. Authorities are continuing efforts to bring the flames under control and to clarify the causes of the fire.
