During the conversation, Kurti expressed Kosovo’s deep gratitude for the unwavering support that Sweden has provided to the country and its citizens, both during the period before liberation and the declaration of independence, and continuously.

Describing Sweden as a close partner and one of the five main donors of Kosovo, the prime minister highlighted the contribution of thousands of Swedish soldiers within the KFOR mission. He also recalled that Sweden became a haven for many Albanian families from Kosovo, including the Trepça miners who left the country after the 1989 strike.

Beyond bilateral relations, the meeting with Ambassador Pehrson also served to examine opportunities for expanding cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, energy, and defense. Also, current political topics and regional dynamics were touched upon.

For her part, Ambassador Pehrson expressed that serving as the diplomatic representative in Kosovo has long been a personal aspiration of hers.
