US President Donald Trump has said that Britain escaped a nuclear threat thanks to the joint US-Israeli military operation against Iran. During an interview with the British network GB News, he again attacked the UK government and London Mayor Sadiq Khan, targeting their positions on the conflict and immigration issues.

Trump strongly defended the launch of the military campaign on February 28, carried out in coordination with Israel, describing it as an action that prevented an even greater danger to the European continent. According to him, Tehran’s possession of nuclear weapons would significantly increase the likelihood of them being used against targets in Europe.

“I am also protecting your country from the same danger. If Iran had an atomic bomb, the chances are greater that it would use it in Europe,” the US president said. He argued that Iranian missiles have the range to strike Europe, but not US territory, although the regime in Tehran has repeatedly denied for decades that it intends to build a nuclear arsenal.

Referring to London’s refusal to become militarily involved in the conflict, a position maintained under the government of former Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump suggested that this could have consequences for Washington’s support in the dispute over the Falkland Islands, known as the Malvinas in Argentina. “Remember, a good portion of the oil you use passes through the Strait of Hormuz, and you were not there to help me,” he said.

The White House leader also did not spare Sadiq Khan, whom he described as “a terrible person” and “very bad.” He repeated claims that some areas of London are out of control because of crime and waves of immigration. “London has become a completely different place. There are neighborhoods in Paris and London where even the police do not dare to go, for fear that they could lose their lives,” Trump claimed.

In the same interview, the US president also returned to his warnings about British immigration and energy policies, speaking of a real risk of “catastrophe.” “If you continue to allow people from all over the world to enter your country, soon you will no longer have a country,” he warned.

Sadiq Khan’s response came several hours later through a source close to him, who accused Trump of being “obsessed” with the mayor of the British capital. According to the source, crime figures have fallen across London, while violent crime remains far lower than in any major American metropolis. The source stressed that London remains a global, diverse and prosperous city, “the best city in the world.”
