At least 30 people were killed in Ukraine during a bloody night, following a new wave of massive attacks carried out by Russia.
According to the data, Moscow launched 74 missiles and 496 drones, heavily striking central Kyiv as well and causing damage to at least 130 buildings.

The Russian side claimed these attacks came in response to Ukrainian strikes on its territory, especially against Russian energy infrastructure and refineries. For its part, Kyiv has stepped up attacks in recent weeks on strategic targets inside Russia, aiming to hit Moscow’s war economy.
Although the war has now entered its fifth year, it is showing no signs of easing and is instead escalating even further.
Neither Ukraine nor Russia regularly makes public official figures on military losses, as both treat them as strategically important information. However, a new study by the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) offers an overview of the scale of the conflict.
According to the report, Ukraine has lost between 125,000 and 150,000 soldiers killed from February 2022 to June 2026.
According to the same report, Russia has suffered between 400,000 and 450,000 killed in combat.
In total, the number of war casualties, including those killed, wounded and missing, exceeds 2 million people, while around 1.4 million of them are Russians.
On the civilian front, the United Nations reports that more than 16,000 people have been killed in Ukraine and more than 46,500 others wounded since the start of the war.
The report describes the level of military losses as “very high,” underlining that Russian losses exceed by more than four times the total U.S. losses in conflicts after World War II, Corriere writes.
According to the analysis, Russia’s ground offensive has slowed significantly, with very limited gains in some parts of the front, while in certain cases it has lost more territory than it has taken.
Experts estimate that the advance of Russian troops has fallen to extremely low rates, which are considered among the slowest in modern wars, reflecting serious difficulties on the military front.
Despite the heavy losses, the report stresses that Russia has given no sign that it intends to reduce the intensity of the war. According to the analysis, the West has also not exerted enough pressure to change the situation on the ground.
The CSIS analysis underlines that modern warfare, driven by drones and new technologies, is producing even higher levels of casualties.
Experts warn that the conflict is taking the form of a war of attrition, with major human and economic costs, while the possibility of a diplomatic solution remains distant.
