Vlora Police Explain How Journalist Enrik Mehmeti Died: ATV Overturned Off-Road, 18-Year-Old Also Aboard

Vlora Police have responded to the tragic accident in which journalist Enrik Mehmeti lost his life. In an official statement, police said the serious incident was reported at around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday in the Dajlan area, along the Vlora coast.

According to preliminary police information, the journalist was driving a four-wheeled motor vehicle when he is suspected of having lost control. As a result, the vehicle overturned on off-road terrain, and Mehmeti suffered very serious injuries that proved fatal.

Immediately after the report, police services and the medical emergency team arrived at the scene. The journalist was urgently transported to Vlora Regional Hospital, but despite doctors’ efforts to save his life, he did not survive his injuries.

There was also a passenger on the vehicle, an 18-year-old with the initials K. S., who sustained minor injuries and is out of danger.

“Preliminary checks indicate that the accident occurred outside the road area, on a coastal surface, and did not involve other vehicles or road users.

The investigative team, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, is carrying out all procedural actions at the scene to fully document the circumstances and determine the cause of this accident,” Vlora Police said.

At around 9:40 p.m., in the Dajlan area of Vlora, on the coast and outside the road area, an accident occurred resulting in the death of citizen E. M., around 40 years old, a resident of Vlora (journalist).

Initial investigative actions suggest that while travelling in a four-wheeled motor vehicle, he lost control of the vehicle, which overturned. As a result of the overturning, the driver of the motor vehicle, citizen E. M., sustained serious bodily injuries.

Immediately after receiving the report, police services and an ambulance went to the scene. The injured man was urgently transported to Vlora Regional Hospital, where, despite the assistance provided by medical staff, he died.

Citizen K. S., around 18 years old, was a passenger in the motor vehicle and sustained minor injuries that are not life-threatening.
