Journalist Enrik Mehmeti is being escorted to his final resting place, after losing his life prematurely yesterday in a tragic road accident in Vlora.

Following tributes at the city’s “Petro Marko” theater, where thousands of citizens, friends, colleagues, relatives, and even Prime Minister Edi Rama were present, around 14:00, the courageous News24 journalist was given a final farewell, escorting him to his final resting place.

Journalist Enrik Mehmeti lost his life on Saturday afternoon, at the age of 40, after a motorcycle accident on the beach of Porto Novo, in Zvërnec.

Journalist Enrik Mehmeti reported on events from the Vlora region. For years, Mehmeti was the face and voice that brought the most important events of the country’s south to News24’s screen, from crime chronicles to police operations, social, political, and tourism developments.

He was known for his immediate presence at the scene, exclusive reporting, and persistence in bringing verified information, even in difficult situations.
