VLEN: Ahmeti’s guarantees of Grubi’s innocence are leading him toward conviction

VLEN stated today that Ali Ahmeti’s insistence on guaranteeing Artan Grubi’s innocence may actually end up contributing to his conviction.

According to VLEN, the more Ahmeti tries to defend Grubi, the more it creates the impression that he is sacrificing him. Even earlier, when Ahmeti assured that there would be no indictment and that Grubi would be released, developments went in the opposite direction: Grubi’s detention was extended and proceedings were initiated against him.

VLEN raises the question of what Ahmeti is aiming to prevent and whether he is afraid of what Grubi might testify. According to them, Ahmeti may have consciously accepted sacrificing him, calculating that this will create an opportunity for himself to return to power.

The party assesses that by constantly declaring that Grubi is innocent, Ahmeti is contributing in the opposite direction and is bringing him closer to a possible conviction.

Political and public pressure on the court, in a case involving a person who is on the US blacklist, according to VLEN, can only bring the opposite result. This dangerous political game of Ahmeti, the party emphasizes, is accelerating his departure from politics, while it is only a matter of time before dissatisfaction within DUI becomes public.

VLEN adds that for two years Ahmeti has been promising his supporters that the return to government would happen today or tomorrow. However, this did not happen, and in the local elections, DUI suffered a debacle. Now, according to the party, he is trying to turn the Grubi case into another political gamble, but this time the risk is not only related to Grubi, but also to Ahmeti himself.
