VLEN Seeks Clarification from the Prosecutor’s Office over the Lack of an Indictment against Artan Grubi

Almost six months have passed since Artan Grubi, whom VLEN describes as the “black box” of the DUI, was placed under house arrest in the “Lottery” case, but so far nothing has been made known about an indictment. The maximum duration of this measure expires on August 22, while, according to VLEN, the Prosecutor’s Office is acting at a very slow pace.

The party suspects that the proceedings may have been prolonged because of what Grubi may have told the authorities.

VLEN also recalls that the case related to Grubi’s inclusion on the U.S. blacklist remains without developments, saying that the public has the right to know how far the matter has progressed. The United States of America, which the party describes as a strategic partner, placed Grubi on the blacklist for high-level corruption. According to this position, he and Judge Enver Bexheti accepted bribes to secure the release of Sasho Mijallkov from prison.

“Artan Grubi is not just any former official. He is the black box of the DUI and knows who was pulling the strings, who was dividing up the deals, and whose pockets the gambling money ended up in. For this reason, Ali Ahmeti has reason to sleep with one eye open and the other on Grubi,” VLEN said in its reaction.

To relieve Ali Ahmeti of this concern and provide the public with a clear picture, VLEN is calling on the Prosecutor’s Office not to treat justice as a game of hide-and-seek. The party is demanding that the institution explain why an indictment has still not been filed in the “Lottery” case, where the proceedings stand, and what actions have been taken following the findings of the U.S. authorities.
