VLEN raises the question: Who proposed a deal to Artan Grubi?

Following yesterday’s first court hearing against Artan Grubi, VLEN says that more and more questions are emerging about developments behind the scenes and attempts to bring the case to a close through an agreement with the prosecution.

According to the party, Grubi is suspected of having been persuaded to reach an agreement with the prosecution, plead guilty and receive a significantly lighter sentence. At the same time, the agreement would put an end to his ambitions to take over the leadership of DUI.

VLEN claims that Ali Ahmeti considered the court proceedings too risky, as Grubi’s temperament could damage DUI’s ratings through his media appearances. According to sources cited by the party, Grubi had already planned interviews, believing that he would not face an indictment, but then suffered an unpleasant disappointment. The extension of his house arrest, it is further claimed, constitutes additional pressure on him to accept a deal before the trial begins.

VLEN’s statement also mentions the composition of the defense teams. According to the party, the lawyers representing most of the defendants in this case are figures from the justice system who operated during the period of Gruevski and Mijallkov. VLEN sees this as an indication that DUI has abandoned caution and is using every available means. Meanwhile, according to the party, it remains unclear why the presence of Grubi’s first associate, Perparim Bajrami, was not secured.

VLEN also raises the question of whether, through the reclassification of the criminal offense, Ali Ahmeti is being sent a message that his suspicious actions will face a response. According to the party, Bujar Osmani was not entirely satisfied either, as the background to his briefings was understood at certain international addresses. VLEN concludes that difficult days have only just begun for DUI’s mafia politburo.
