A group of around 12 people carried out the robbery at around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday after arriving in the area in three vehicles and a truck. To prevent intervention, they blocked a road in the town center.

The perpetrators then used a stolen excavator to damage and break open two ATMs.
According to reports by local media, the machines belonged to Monte dei Paschi di Siena and Banca Agricola Popolare di Ragusa. The two ATMs were located next to each other on a street in Sortino, Sicily.
The incident caused extensive damage to the building, while the robbers fled before local authorities arrived. Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend them, also analyzing footage from the bank’s security cameras.
