A serious incident has been reported in Arizona, US, where an 18-month-old child was found alive in a hospital morgue several hours after being declared dead by a doctor following an incident in the family’s swimming pool.
The incident happened on February 8. According to reports, family members found the toddler unconscious in the pool and immediately alerted emergency services. First responders began resuscitation efforts right away and then transported the child to the hospital.

The police report says officers had informed doctors that they had observed signs of life in the child, but doctor Arian Toussi declared the child dead about an hour after arrival at the hospital.
About five hours later, staff at the medical examiner’s office discovered that the child was still breathing in the morgue. The child was then airlifted to another hospital, where he received treatment and later recovered.
The hospital said it has launched a full investigation into the case, which it described as “shocking,” and also promised measures to improve patient care procedures.
Meanwhile, the doctor’s lawyer said that, out of respect for the family and the patient’s privacy, no further comments will be made at this stage.
