82-Year-Old Aunt and 44-Year-Old Nephew Found Dead in Naples Apartment

An 82-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man were found dead inside an apartment in Portici, in the province of Naples. According to preliminary information, the victims were aunt and nephew.

The bodies were discovered in the home located in Piazzale Divina Provvidenza. It is suspected that they had died several days before being found by the authorities.

Carabinieri officers and emergency personnel immediately went to the scene, while checks were launched to determine the circumstances of the incident.

Authorities said the bodies, which had begun to decompose, were found on the floor near the bed. Initial examinations found no signs of violence on the victims or evidence suggesting forced entry into the apartment.

By order of the judicial authorities, the bodies were taken to the morgue at Naples’ Policlinico Hospital. An autopsy is expected to determine the cause of their deaths.

Investigators are examining every possibility and continuing their work to fully clarify the case. Preliminary evidence suggests that the bodies may have remained in the apartment for about five days before being found.
