UP students march in Pristina today against Specialist Chambers ruling

The Student Parliament of the University of Pristina “Hasan Prishtina” is organizing a protest march today against the guilty verdict issued by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.

The gathering will begin at 11:30 at the Student Center, from where participants will march toward “Skanderbeg” Square in central Pristina.

The student initiative is taking place on the fifth day of protests against the Specialist Chambers ruling.

Last night, thousands of citizens gathered in “Skanderbeg” Square to oppose the decision of the Specialist Chambers.

The sons and other family members of Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi were also present at the protest.

The fifth night of protests opened with the unfurling of a large national flag bearing the emblem of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Citizens held placards bearing the messages “Not in my name,” “No peace without justice” and “Freedom has a name.” Chants in support of the former KLA leaders were also heard during the gathering.

The protests began on September 16, following the announcement of the verdict against Thaçi, Krasniqi, Veseli and Selimi.
