Fifteenth night of protests in Pristina as citizens display “Bac s’u kry” message

Skanderbeg Square in Pristina has once again filled with citizens gathering for the fifteenth night of protests against the Specialist Chambers’ guilty verdict against former KLA leaders.

During the gathering, protesters displayed the message “Bac s’u kry” as a sign of support for Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi, who were sentenced by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague on September 16 to a combined 81 years in prison.

Participants repeated their demand for the release of the former KLA leaders, saying that the Specialist Court’s decision “is not in their name.”

They also called on the Government of Kosovo to urgently submit a draft law amending and supplementing the Law on the Specialist Chambers to the Assembly before October 6.

Meanwhile, the Freedom Has a Name platform has announced another protest for tomorrow in Skanderbeg Square, starting at 16:00. The gathering will be held to express outrage at the Specialist Court’s decision and support for the former KLA leaders.

Protests against the Specialist Court’s decision have also taken place outside Kosovo, in Skopje, several US cities, Canada, Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Further protests have been announced in Brussels on October 10.
